Richard M. “Dick” Bravick, 81, of Sandwich, IL passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at his home in Sandwich. He was born June 20, 1932 in Newark, IL the son of Melvin and Arlotte (Olson) Bravick. He married Pauline “Polly” Schnitz on April 5, 1952 in Somonauk, IL. He was a member of the Sandwich VFW, the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Dick was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, and watching sports on TV. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 5 years during the Korean War. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by four daughters, Jill (Dale) Olson of Sandwich, IL, Jan (Pete Sinetos) Knudsen of Somonauk, IL, Jody (Rick) Hill of Sandwich, IL, and Joan Bennett of Somonauk, IL; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Mike) of Texas, Byron (Ashley) of Dunlap, IL, Heather (Chad) of Sheridan, IL, Kylie and Sam both of Sandwich, IL, Kiersten and Kaleigh both of Somonauk, IL; four great grandchildren, Lucah, Claire, Ava and Samantha; one sister, M. Jean Land of Somonauk, IL; one sister-in-law Diane (Ron) Dallner of Florida; one brother-in-law Clarence Schnitz of Mendota, IL, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Polly, and a great grandson Silas.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, with the Memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
