Richard L. Avery, 59, of Morris, IL passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his home in Morris. He was born December 30, 1951 in Galesburg, IL the son of Rex and Barbara (Hunt) Avery. Rick had strong faith, love for his sons and grandchildren, and was an avid sports fan - especially high school athletics.
He is survived by three sons, Derek (Bridget) Avery of Sandwich, Drew Avery of Okinawa, Japan, John Avery of Newark; two grandchildren, Brianna and Rex Avery; one brother, Randy (Georgia) Avery of Petersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Montgomery Avery.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2011at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Rev. John William Davis officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery in Petersburg, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich. Memorials may be directed to Sandwich Youth Tackle Football, Sandwich Sports Boosters, or Newark Sports Boosters.
