Rebecca A. Mathesius, beloved wife, cherished mother, doting grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 3 2026, at the Pavilion of Ottawa, surrounded by her loving daughters, who were truly her best friends. She was born on May 10, 1948, in Mendota, Illinois, and spent her years creating a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Rebecca's love story began when she met the love of her life, Kay Mathesius. They married on June 10, 1967, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, where they would share their lives for so many beautiful years. Their bond was strong—adored by Rebecca, their relationship was the cornerstone of her life, as they journeyed hand in hand since she were just 18.

A devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rebecca held her faith close to her heart, gaining comfort and strength from her community. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, dedicating her time to her family and her beloved hobbies, which included making rugs and blankets, crafting, and nurturing her stunning yard filled with vibrant flowers. Her home was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and creativity, always welcoming friends and family with warmth and love.

Rebecca took immense pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren—Drue (Alissa) Mathesius, Paige Johnson, Keegan (Emily) Johnson, Chase (Breann) Johnson, Peyton Johnson (Madison), Brooklyn Kunkel, and Morgan Kunkel—were the apples of her eye. She found endless joy in watching them grow and thrive, and she loved to create special memories with each of them. The arrival of great-grandchildren Kash, Tripp, Moxx, Macc, Haislee, and Easton only added to her happiness, making her heart swell with pride and love.

Rebecca leaves behind her remarkable daughters, Kim (Mike) Ohme and Jennifer "Jay" (Todd) Kunkel, who honor their mother’s legacy with the love she instilled in them. She also leaves behind her siblings—Chuck (Marcia) Farley, Denny (Lorraine) Farley, Nancy (Dave) Montgomery, Ed (Pam) Farley, Sarah Farley, and Roger (Cheryl) Farley—who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Kay; her parents, William and Rosemary (Williamson) Farley; as well as her siblings, Marge Farley, Freemont Farley, and Bill Farley. Their memories of Rebecca will be cherished, and she will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
