Raymond W. Bergmeier, 88, of Earlville, IL passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota, IL. He was born February 4, 1924 in Jackson, MN, the son of Ernest and Frances (Becker) Bergmeier. He married Delilah A. Besix Cottingim on November 12, 1954 in Earlville, IL.
He formerly owned and operated Ray’s Tap in Earlville for many years. He was also a custodian for Earlville Schools for over 20 years retiring in 2004. He loved spending time in his flower gardens, and mowed lawns and did yard work for many people.
He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda (Lawrence) Bartels of Mendota, IL; two grandchildren, Jamie Keigley (Justin) Preston of Triumph, IL and Ryan Glaser of Spring Valley, IL; two great grandchildren, Giuliana Glaser and Jordan Preston; one brother, Ernest "JR" Bergmeier of Hugo, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Delilah, two sisters, Shirley Brandt and Evelyn Bergmeier, and two brothers, Orville and Lawrence Bergmeier.
Ray's Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville with Pastor Del Keilman officiating. Burial will follow at Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the funeral home, and on Saturday one hour before the funeral service.
