Phyllis M. Zoellner, born on April 11, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, in Cary, Illinois. Her life, spanning 90 remarkable years, was defined by her devotion to family, her service to others, and her love of community.

Phyllis was the beloved daughter of John P. Horn and Frances L. (Laflin) Horn, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Zoellner, Jr., her son Kurt W. Zoellner, and her sister Nancy I. Nicholson. The values and traditions she inherited and shared endure among those who survive her.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Scott R. (Janet Newsome) Zoellner, Steven C. (Maggie) Zoellner, and Thomas E. (Holly) Zoellner. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Christina (Jeff), Kellen (Erin), Alexa, Katie, Garry, Mitch, and Monica (Charlie). Phyllis is also survived by her sister, Susan V. White, and her brother, John P. Horn, III.

Phyllis was a proud graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. Throughout her life, Phyllis was known for her spirited enjoyment of bowling, golfing, bingo, playing bridge and especially the CUBS. She enjoyed the moments spent on traveling adventures and gambling excursions, and she especially took delight in baking cookies—a simple joy that she shared lovingly with family and friends. Of all her many interests, none brought her more fulfillment than time spent surrounded by her loved ones.

Her commitment to her community was steadfast. As a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Somonauk, Illinois, for over two decades, Phyllis shaped her faith through active participation and fellowship. She contributed her time generously as a volunteer at Valley West Hospital and as a active member at Fox Valley Older Adults, always willing to offer support and compassion to those in need.

Phyllis’ memory will be honored with a visitation on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Both services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, located at 235 South Green Street, Somonauk, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Older Adults. For more information or to sign the online guestbook go to www.EighnerFuneralHomes.com
