Paul F. Bruggemann, Sr., 82, of Somonauk, IL passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born August 29, 1931 in Carlyle, IL the son of Fred F. and Dorothy A. (Mueller) Bruggemann. He married Nellie H. Casey on June 16, 1954 in Centralia, IL. Paul was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Sandwich Moose Lodge, he was a former Governor of the Aurora Moose Lodge. Paul co-owned and operated Nel's Catering for over 29 years. Paul retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, of which many reaped the benefits.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie of Somonauk, IL; five daughters: Donna (Dean) Irelan of Cement City, MI, Teresa (Donald) Robbins of Newark, IL, Connie Reeve of Somonauk, IL, Mary (Jim Lawrence) Riel of Stanley, NC and Susan (Robert) Way of Sycamore, IL; one son: Paul F. Bruggemann, Jr. of Somonauk, IL; one daughter-in-law: Sofia Bruggemann of Sandwich, IL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two great grandchildren and two sisters.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Father Thomas Brantman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Carlyle, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with a prayer service held at the end of visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family.
