Patricia A. Spang Smith, 95, of Oswego, IL, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Accentcare Hospice & Palliative Care of Illinois in Naperville, IL. She was born November 19,1928 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Adams) Forbes. Patricia attended Oswego Presbyterian Church when she was able, and the services provided by The Tiller’s every Friday, where she was a resident for seven years. She was a switch board operator for Illinois Bell at the Aurora Central Exchange, worked as a switch board operator at Stephens-Adamson, was the office manager for a trading company at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, sold life insurance for MetLife, and worked for Connor-Saver advertising Company. A seamstress extraordinaire, she could sew anything and taught her daughter to make her own clothes at 10. Patricia loved to play bingo and read everything Danielle Steele published. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trip to Germany and a great American Road Trip with her kids for her 80th birthday.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Sandy) Spang of Millbrook, IL, Marcia (Bill) Hamilton of St. Augustine, FL, and Robinn (Gary) Parker of Killen, TX; her six grandchildren; her seven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty Fitzsimmons, brothers, Ralph Millen and Wayne Millen, her daughter, Patricia “Patti” Morrow of San Antonio, TX, and her dog, Sweet Pea.
A private graveside service was held in Patricia’s honor on Wednesday, September 27 at Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, with Pastor Sharon Engert of Millbrook United Methodist Church officiating.
