Patricia A. “Gram” Gareski, 81, of Plano, IL passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at her home in Plano, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 21, 1933 in Plano, IL the daughter of Arthur and Fern (Van Kirk) Wade Sr. She married Albert Gareski on May 7, 1955 in Plano, IL. Gram’s door was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by. She worked hard and loved it, retiring at the age of 81, due to her health. She loved people and often showed that love by cooking up a good meal and sharing it. She was known for her ability to cook anything. But her greatest treasure was her family immediate and extended. There isn’t anything that she wouldn’t have done for them.
The lives she leaves behind forever changed, her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki (Keith) Kramer, three granddaughters, sons-in-law, and families; Lisa (Brent) Nelson, children Hannah and Grace, Sarah (Greg) Young, children Lexi, Dylan, and Brody, Nicki (Eric Nelson) Bauer; two brothers, Arthur “Bud” Wade and Donald “Sam” Wade, along with many nieces, nephews, her loyal companion “Prissy” and her special “Wash House Family”, where she worked.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Luella and Ila, seven brothers; Howard, Richard, Robert, Jerry, John, William and Charles, a son-in-law and friend Harry “Kraut” Bauer, and her very special niece, Betty Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Derek Johnsen officiating. Burial will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., on Saturday at the funeral home until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to The American Cancer Society. A special thanks goes to Vitas Hospice nurses; Amelia, Carol, Jolene, Holly, and our special friend and caregiver Joyce Schmitt for taking wonderful care of Gram.
