Patricia Louise Donahue, 97, of Somonauk, IL passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. She was born February 10, 1919 in Sandwich the daughter of Harley and Esther Hadlock Herzog. She married William Donahue. After graduating from Somonauk High School and Northern Illinois State Teachers College NIU, she began teaching in Marseilles, IL. She retired after a long career as an elementary school teacher in the Somonauk Public Schools.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Donahue of Northfield, IL and Laura Mike Grubb of Whitewater, WI; one son, William Mary Jo Donahue of Chicago, IL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Pollyanna Howard of Anna Marie Island, FL; one sister-in-law, Anita Herzog; her first cousin, Anita Breunig Cowdery of Boulder, CO; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Pat’s caregivers: Peggy Strever, Janet Baker, Sharen Mann, Rose Ebert, Hazel Sherman, Sheila Hill, Mary Rohrer, Julia Bannister, the staff of Willow Crest in Sandwich and neighbors who supported Patricia in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings, Jean Johnson and Max Herzog.
A private Funeral Mass will be held in Patricia’s honor. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk.
