Nellie B. Riks, 97, of Somonauk, IL passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. She was born September 9, 1914 in Bingham, IL the daughter of Charlie and Hester (Earle) Rhodes. She married Alvin Riks on September 28, 1940. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Michigan City, IN. Nellie enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and especially high level square dancing.
She is survived by two sisters, Dixie Marvick of Leland and Imogene Walker of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Bernell Rhodes and Arthur Rhodes; two sisters, Opal Rhodes and Violet Crawford.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Turner -Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Sherry Hoeing officiating. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Open Door Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich.
