Nancy K. Lane, 71, of Osseo, WI formerly of Sandwich IL, died peacefully at the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center on December 9, 2012 after a valiant seven month battle that perplexed many doctors along the way.
Nancy was born in Mendota, IL on November 23, 1941 to Wesley and Jean (Krenz) Riegel. She was Baptized and Confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota, IL. Nancy graduated from Mendota High School, Mendota, IL.
Nancy worked several jobs, doing each for many years, working at Pamida, CTS and most recently as a cashier for the Wal-Mart in Plano, IL for 15 years prior to retiring a couple of years ago. Nancy enjoyed working on crafts, playing cards, attending her grandkids activities and spending time with her friends. All who met Nancy understood she was special; she had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed.
Nancy is survived by daughters, Kimberly (Dana) Crutcher of Hudson, IL, Melody (Don) Behringer of Osseo, WI; a son, Wesley (Krista) Lane of Berwyn, IL.; “Nana” had six grandchildren, Brandon Behringer, Joshua and Delaney Crutcher, Anita, Jacob and Erika Lane; a sister, Sandra (Kenneth) Swanlund of La Moille, IL along with two special aunts, the best cousins in the world, a niece, nephews and many other family and friends.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia in infancy.
The funeral service for Nancy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Pastor David Kaul of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Sandwich, IL will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Mendota, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family.
The family of Nancy Lane wishes to thank the Valley West Community Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, Gundersen Lutheran Hospitals, Arcadia Nursing Home, Pigeon Falls Health Care Center, Black River Memorial Hospice and the many caring doctors, nurses and staff we had the pleasure to meet during Nancy’s amazing journey. Today is a “pretty good” day for Nancy.
