Nanci Kaye Thayer, 60, of Kuttawa, KY formerly of Somonauk, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her home in Kuttawa, KY. She was born May 13, 1956 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of Louis and Judith Rumple Morse. She married William Thayer Sr. on July 21, 1979 in Aurora, IL. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL. Nanci devoted many years teaching religious education for 2nd grade and First Communion. She enjoyed being involved in church and school activities; sharing stories with family and friends. Her greatest joy of all was her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband William “Bill” Thayer Sr.; her mother Judith Morse of Geneva, IL; one daughter Katherine Russell Rogers of Montgomery, IL; two sons, William Becky Thayer Jr. of Tulsa, OK and Kyle Melissa Thayer of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Patrick and Triston Rogers, Makayla and Kinley Thayer; one sister, Pamela Morse of Sandwich, IL; three brothers, Louis Linda Morse Jr. of St. Charles, IL; James Geri Morse of Plainfield, IL and Michael Sabina Morse of Sleepy Hollow, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Morse Sr.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Father Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children\s Hospital.
