Myrna Ruth Shambaugh

Myrna R. Shambaugh, 85, of Somonauk passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. She was born May 23, 1931 in Waterman, IL, the daughter of Milfred and Edith Brownfield Wicks. She married Harrison D. Shambaugh on September 4, 1953 in Yorkville, IL. During Harrison’s service, he was stationed in Oklahoma and Myrna worked as a registered nurse in a local hospital. When they returned to Illinois, she worked at Sandwich Hospital for over 40 years. She enjoyed Hardanger embroidery and Norwegian crafts. Myrna loved her cats, flowers, music and reading in her free time when Darrell wasn’t keeping her on her toes.
She is survived by one son, Darrell Shambaugh of Somonauk, IL; one sister, Mildred Greene of Oswego, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her cat, Kitty Girl.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harrison. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor William C. Weidenbach, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the funeral home in Somonauk.
