Muriel M. Maley

Muriel M. Maley, 89, of Sandwich, IL passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at her home. She was born September 23, 1927 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Mildred Wilson Sutfin. She married John “Jack” Maley, Jr. on May 31, 1947 at Holy Redeemer Church in Evergreen Park, IL. They had 59 wonderful years together until Jack’s passing, her life continued with her Ladies Clubs. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL. Muriel was extremely active in the Lake Holiday Ladies Club formerly the Garden Club, baking 3-4 turkey’s a year for over 15 years. She joined her girlfriends monthly for the DVD Club, and also with The Huggers Monthly. She baked cookies for any function, always there to lend a hand and always remembered everyone’s birthdays. Muriel truly loved to cook.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Jim Lowe of New Lenox, IL; four grandchildren, Steven Julie Slowinski of Port Orange, FL, Krystal Terry Killebrew of Port Orange, FL, April Kutchinski of Chandler AZ, and Kaitlin Kutchinski of Joliet, IL; three great grandchildren, Stephen Slowinski, II, Nathan Killebrew and Braydan Killebrew; one son-in-law, Jim Slowinski of Cedar Lake, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter, Patricia Slowinski.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Rev. Louis Tosto officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk, IL.
