Monica L. Haggerty, 52, of Yorkville, IL passed away, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Valley West Community hospital in Sandwich, Illinois. She was born January 25, 1960 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Arnold and Beverly (Corniels) Bitterman. Monica was a Yorkville High School graduate, class of 1979 and worked for the Yorkville American Legion Post 489, where she was an active member in the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her great sense of humor and found pleasure in her ability to make a difference in people’s lives. Her heart was filled with compassion, and always put others needs before herself. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and floral arranging.
She is survived by her parents Arnold and Beverly Bitterman of Yorkville, IL; one daughter, Nichole Haggerty of Plainfield, IL; two sons, Joseph (Toni) Haggerty of Somonauk, IL and Sean Haggerty of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Audrey, Rylee, Jermie, Owen and Madison; two sisters, Kimberly (Lathan) Allred of Millington, IL and Stacey (David) Earnest of Naperville, IL; and a loving boyfriend of many years Kevin Krantz of Sandwich, IL.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Bitterman Jr. and father of her three children, Brian Haggerty.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL. Immediately following the visitation a gathering of fellowship will be held at the Yorkville American Legion, 9054 State Route 34 Yorkville, IL. 60560.
