Mildred L. Kreitinger died on August 9, 2022 at her place of residence, Aperion Care of DeKalb.

Millie was born May 30, 1929 in Glenwood, MN to Edward and Mabel VanVickle. Millie grew up in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota and married Kenneth B. Kreitinger in 1947. Their son, Kenneth J. Kreitinger was born that same year. Millie and her family moved to Earlville, IL in the 1950’s, where she resided until 2010. She worked for many years at Marathon Electric in Earlville and also owned a chicken farm with her husband in the 1960s.

Millie was a fun-loving, witty lady who had many friends. She was an avid gardener and spent many joyous hours tending her irises, peonies, and rock gardens. She enjoyed painting, reading, sewing, baking, travel, and spending time with friends and family. Millie had a love for collecting and a special place in her heart for dolls, ceramic dogs and owl figurines.

Survivors include granddaughter, spouse and great-grandson Kim Kreitinger, Eric Preston and Anders Preston of Madison, WI; sisters Vera Thoms of Earlville, IL and Alice Baumann of Alexandria, MN; and daughters-in-law Sharon Ackman of Genoa, IL and Donna Kreitinger of Genoa, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth B. Kreitinger; son Kenneth J. Kreitinger; three sisters and their spouses, Agnes and Gordon Thoms, Gladys and Lawrence Jensen and Elma and Howard Braun; and brothers-in-law Russell Thoms and Elton Hauptli.

Funeral Mass: St Theresa’s Catholic Church, 221 W Union St, Earlville, IL on Wednesday, August 17 at 10am with Father Jeff Widy officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville.
