Michelle LeEllen Jutila (Bright) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She went to be with the Lord after a long courageous battle with breast cancer on January 9, 2024, at the age of 54 at home surrounded by family.
Michelle was born to Terry and Barb Bright on June 21, 1969, and was the headstrong middle sibling to older brother Doug and younger sister Jodie. After graduating from Somonauk Baptist High School, Michelle chased her dreams to become a nurse. She started nursing school in Rockford, IL. After meeting her husband Corey in northern Minnesota, they fell in love and were joined together in marriage on June 23, 1990. She finished nursing school while living in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They went on to have four children: Clay (Heidi) Jutila, Cole (Liah) Jutila, Maya, Cade. The light of her life was fulfilling the role of GIGI with her two grandsons, Liam and Hudson.
Michelle, known to many as Missy, had a larger-than-life personality. She kept her parents on their toes from childhood, always up to mischief and pushing all boundaries with her best friend DeAnn by her side. To know Missy was to love her. She had the biggest heart and desire to help others--she never met a stranger and could easily befriend anyone. Missy was a labor & delivery nurse for over 25 years at Provena Mercy Medical Center before deciding to stay home with the kids after her diagnosis in 2016. Missy made a significant impact on the patients she cared for as well as the large circle of friends she made along her nursing journey. Missy wanted to be remembered for her love of laughter and for always looking to have a good time. She loved to travel and explore new areas around the world, even making the trip to Japan solo to meet her new grandson. Missy was independent and fearless and often the go-to person in the family to get stuff done, always lending a listening ear and an offer of advice.
Although she will be deeply missed by the loved ones she left behind, her greatest wish was for her life to be celebrated and that her fun adventures and memories live on through the stories we share.
Michelle leaves behind her husband, Corey Jutila; her parents, Terry and Barb Bright; her four children, Clay (Heidi) Jutila, Cole (Liah) Jutila, Maya, and Cade; two grandsons, Liam (Clay) Jutila and Hudson (Cole) Jutila; siblings Doug (Angel) Bright and Jodie (Sean) Borchelt; her granddad, Fred Bright; sister-in-law Heather (Eric) Markwardt; her beloved dog, Zoey; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Rachel Bright; maternal grandparents, Russel and Clara Bertram; in-laws Michael Jutila and Jill Jutila.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with a memorial service following at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Rob Hager officiating.
