Michael D. Schwickerath, Sr., 60, of Sandwich passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at his residence in Lake Holiday. He was born October 20, 1951 in Mendota the son of Alvin and Geneva (Brown) Schwickerath. He married Bari L. Keating on April 3, 1973 in Aurora, IL. Michael retired in 2011 from the Montgomery Caterpillar plant after 35 years. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting, bowling, cooking, grilling, making jerky in his smoker, walking, biking, riding his motorcycle and he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Bari; two daughters: Tara Scott and Amy Schwickerath; two sons: Michael (Stefanie) Schwickerath, Jr. and Matt (Heather) Schwickerath; seven grandchildren: Danielle, Karyssa, Michael, Chyanne, Abigail, Payton and Jordan; three sisters: Marty (Bill) Francis, Carol (Dennis) Shelton and LuAnn Schwickerath; one brother: Gary (Marge) Schwickerath and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Rev. Paul Banister officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
