Michael P. McCarthy II, 42, of Joliet, IL passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at his home. He was born June 17, 1966 in Oak Lawn, IL, the son of Michael P. and Lorraine C. (Pochocki) McCarthy, Sr. He married Teresa A. Lucas on June 29, 1991 in Chicago, IL. He was employed by Southwest Airlines for 22 years and took great pride in his profession. He was very active in community service, including Wish Upon A Star in the Joliet area. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends and co-workers.
He is survived by his wife, Tess of Joliet, one son, Shane at home, his mother, Lorraine McCarthy of Chicago; one brother, Peter McCarthy of Glen Ellyn, one sister, Dr. Catherine (Matthew Heyn) McCarthy of Chicago; his mother-in-law, Gloria (Chuck) Lucas of Plano, his father-in-law, Terry (Barb) Lucas of Bristol, one sister-in-law, Sara (Jeffrey) Stamper of Plano, one brother-in-law, Michael Lucas of DeKalb; his two grandmothers, Lucille Gardner and Jean Wade and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2008 at The United Methodist Church, 219 N. Hale St. Plano, IL with Reverend Christina L. Vosteen officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2008 at The United Methodist Church in Plano, and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
