Mervin R. Baker Jr.

Mervin R. Baker, 81, of Leland, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in rural Leland as a result of a farm accident. He was born August 12, 1931 in Waterman, IL the son of Mervin and Beatrice George Baker. He married Vera Basler on April 12, 1958 in Leland. He was a member of The Leland United Methodist Church, Illinois Valley Horseman Association in which he served as a longtime director, Leland Masonic Lodge, Leland Cemetery Association Trustee. Mervin was a US Army and avid horseman. He was lifelong farmer and he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vera of Leland; three sons, Mervin R Baker III of Leland, Rodney R. (Cindy) Baker of Somonauk, Randy J. (Lisa Cridge) Baker of Leland; six grandchildren, Lauren (Derek) Hummel, Scott (Sarah) Thomas, Justin Baker, Jakub Baker, Jenna Baker, and Taylor Cridge, one great granddaughter, Harper Hummel.
