Meridith A. Sprowls, 85 of Rantoul IL formerly of Sandwich, IL passed away Saturday April 28, 2012 at Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana, IL. She was born July 5, 1926 in West Frankfort, IL the daughter of Charles and Cleda (Edsall) Ellis. She married Raymond T. Sprowls on May 6, 1952 in Wedron, IL. She was a member of Cornerstone Church. Meredith enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking, the Chicago Cubs, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by one daughter, Debora (Bobby) Loveless of Rantoul, IL: three grandchildren, Chad (Jamie) Shaffer of Carbondale, IL, Rachel (Jeff) Palmer of Rantoul, IL and Rebecca Shaffer of Leroy, IL; one step-granddaugher Amanda Carman of Rantoul, IL; one great granddaughter Madison Marie Palmer, four step-great grandchildren, Zach Palmer, Jacob Moore, Caden and Elaine Carman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, on May 29, 2011, one daughter Nancy Sprowls and one sister, Alice Westvig.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m.,noon on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Rev. Paul Banister officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation or Carle Hospice.
