Melvin R. Atwell, 74, of Earlville, IL formerly of Leland passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his residence in Earlville. He was born August 31, 1941 in Green County, Brushy, Kentucky the son of Ova Elmer and Hazel Thompson Atwell. Melvin worked at Baker Feeds in Leland for several years.
He is survived by his three daughters, Janelle Stevan Eller, of Earlville, IL, Kelli John Lipp of Batavia, IL and Melissa “Missy” Gauer of Earlville, IL; nine grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; four sisters, Louise Ketcham of Earlville, Barbara Fred Petitt of South Beloit, IL, Geneva Parr of Rockton, IL and Estell Childs of Rockton, IL; one brother Joseph Atwell of South Beloit, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister, Millie, three brothers, Lonnie, Odell “Pete” and Elmer Atwell.
According to Melvin’s wishes there will be no visitation and a Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Hlome in Earlville, IL with Pastor Del Keilman officiating.
