Maxine Caroline Savage

October 27, 1958 — August 1, 2008

Maxine Caroline Savage, 49, of Sandwich passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 27, 1958 in Sandwich, Illinois the daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel Zorger Anderson. She married Michael W. Savage on February 2, 1984.

Maxine's proudest accomplishment was caring for and raising her four children. Once satisfied that she was succcessful in that venture, she took her care taking skills to Open Door in Sandwich, where she had worked since 1999. There she became "mom" to many of the disabled individuals in her care. Throughout her ten month battle with lung cancer, she remained upbeat and never lost her incredible sense of humor. Until the end she maintained that she had been given more gifts that most people could hope for. She was blessed with a husband who stood beside and cared for her through the difficult times, children and grandchildren who were always there to lend a hand, and her second "family" at Open Door. Those who knew her will never forget her incredible courage and amazing spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Michael W. Savage; her children Patricia (Michael) Yanez of Romeoville, Kristy McCann, Stacy (Randall) Kuntz, and Noah Savage of Sandwich; six grandchildren Hailey, Nathan, Michael, Matthew, Mason, and Moses; two brother's Arthur (Sandy) Anderson of Iowa, and Valto (Meredith) Littlejohn of Kansas; two sisters Marie Williams of Georgia and Virginia Littlejohn of Sandwich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Hazel Anderson.
