Maxine Rose Allen

Maxine Rose Allen, 88, of Sandwich passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at her residence. She was born September 13, 1922 in Earlville, IL, the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Spray) Tanser. She married Ralph A. Allen on November 27, 1943. She retired from for General Telephone in Sandwich after 27 years of service. She enjoyed the simple things in life, none so much as the time with her sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and being surrounded by her four legged friends. She had a special bond with her care givers, especially Mickey Abens.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley (Donna) Allen of Batavia, IL and Michael Allen of Sandwich, IL; two grandchildren, Desalina “Alina” and Alexander “Alex” and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Jeanette Shuck and Evelyn Hartley; one brother, Marvin Tanser.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich. Burial will follow at Pratt Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
