Mavis E. “Mazie” Walton, 89, of Aurora, IL passed away, Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Countryside Health Care Center in Aurora. She was born September 27, 1922 in Earlville, IL, the daughter of Glen and Margaret (McLachlan) Maloy. She married Robert Walton on September on September 24, 1961 in Monroe, WI. She was very active in the Sandwich community prior to moving to Aurora. She was a member of the Mother’s Club in Sandwich. She was on the Centennial Committee for the Sandwich Fair. She was a huge White Sox fan, attending the 1959 World Series. Mavis enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, being active in their school and sports activities. She was the owner of the Mary Ann Restaurant in Sandwich from 1954 to 1961. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Aurora.
She is survived by three children; Judy (Roger ) Hatfield of Sandwich, IL, Jim (Nikki) Meade of Morris, IL and Caryl (Jim) Lindsey of Christopher, IL; her daughter-in-law, Janet Meade of West LaFayette, IN; eight grandchildren; Eric (Terri) Hatfield of Shabbona, Lance Hatfield of Sandwich, IL, Mark (Stacey) Meade of Castle Rock, CO, Christi Meade of Chicago, IL, Jaime (Jason) Metcalf of Dayton, OH, Jordon (Dan) Thom of Hinckley, Jan Michael Meade of Flagstaff, AZ and Lanette (Brett) Giacoma of Sesser, IL; twelve great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; one sister, Margery “Polly” Pierson of Aurora; one brother, Glen (Doris Skelley) Maloy of Leland, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; her special son, Tom Meade; one sister, Ruth Maloy; and a special friend Helen Linetty.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Rev. Jeffrey Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Aurora.
