Maurice E. Knestrick, of Sandwich, IL passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Sandwich Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center in Sandwich. He was born January 3, 1922 in Augusta, MI the son of Elmer and Ima (Milks) Knestrick. Maurice graduated from Peoria High School. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army. He married Evelyn Crane on June 23, 1956 in Peoria, IL. He was employed by Catapillar in Peoria for 2 years then in Montgomery for 30 years retiring in 1984. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Jerry) Thedford of Plano; two granddaughters, Angela (Mark) Anderson of Amboy, IL and Emily Thedford of Plano, IL; one great granddaughter, Autumn Jensen; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and three cousins, Alice Reigel of MI, Gladys Haas of WI and Myreta Holbert of VA, one brother-in-law, Robert (Margi) Crane of Peoria Heights; one sister-in-law, Carol (Dick) Price of Peoria, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer (1946) and Ima (1962) and, his wife in (1986), his father-in-law, Fred Ewing (1969); his mother-in-law, Olive Ewing (2004); one brother, Lewis Knestrick (2008); one sister in infancy, Alice (1920) and several cousins, and his family dogs, Bud, Ruby May, Benji-Sue, Candy, Pat and Buster.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday June 4, 2012 at Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria, IL. Visitation will be at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday June 3, 2012. Memorials may be directed to Parkinson’s and Macular Degeneration.
