Mary Jo Twait, 48, of Somonauk passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Edward Hospital in Naperville after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 19, 1963 in Charleston, IL the daughter of Estie and Lola (Maxey) Updegraff. She married Brian Twait on June 3, 1982 in Serena. She was a former member of Plano Commerce Association and a current member of Somonauk Business Association where she is the Activities Chairman. Mary Jo owned and operated T’zers Hair Salon. She worked at CTS Knights and the Country Kitchen of Somonauk. Mary Jo was baptized at Ottawa Southside Christian Church. She was an avid antique collector, Bears fan, clothes collector and shop-aholic, but her biggest joy was spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Brian of Somonauk; two daughters, Nichole (Dan Naramore) Twait of Somonauk, Cassandra (Andy Rhoton) Twait of Earlville; one sister, Charlotte Thompson of Martinsville; one brother, Duane (Lucille Davidson) Updegraff of Ashmore; two nieces, Marci and Michele; two nephews Kurt and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Margorie and Bernard Twait; one niece Angie and one brother-in-law, Ron Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday July 6, 2012 at Turner-Eighner-Funeral Home in Somonauk, with the Pastor Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow in Elerding Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 5, 2012 at the funeral home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
