Mary Sue Montooth, 99, of Mendota, IL formerly of Earlville, IL, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Heritage Health in Mendota, IL. She was born February 6, 1922 in Norfolk, VA the daughter of Edward and Annie (Jakeman) Ireland. She married S. Stuart Montooth on August 10, 1946 in Norfolk, VA. She was a member of The Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville, IL. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband Stuart. Mary loved to travel around the United States and internationally, visit her family, and go on canoe and kayaking trips. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by three daughters; Rebecca Reckamp of Lake Villa, IL, Dorothy (Robert) McDonald of Hutchinson Island, FL, and Martha (Kenneth) Krausz of Highland, IL, one son Edward (Sheila) Montooth of Wilmington, DE; seven grandchildren Kevin, Jason, and Mark Krausz, Stephanie, Edward, Thomas, and Joseph Montooth; six great-grandchildren Camden, Iris, and Eden Krausz, Ellie, Addy, and Sophie Krausz, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Annie Ireland, her husband Stuart Montooth, one sister Ann Gurkin, two brothers in infancy, and one son-in-law William Reckamp.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at The Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville, IL with pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. A Private Burial will be held at a later date.
