Mary Lou Gleason

Mary Lou Gleason (nee Burke), 73, of Leland IL passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Sandwich Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born September 5, 1938 in Streator, IL the daughter of James David and Luella (Bedeker) Burke. She married Richard M. Gleason in April 1967 in Chicago, IL. She retired from being the secretary to the President of the Milwaukee Railroad. She was currently employed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL as the secretary. She loved gardening, cooking, baking and being at the Church.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sisters, Marilyn (John) Striegel and Betty Kaufman both of Sandwich IL; two brothers, Jim (Judy) Burke of Glen Ellyn, IL, Jerry (Janis) Burke of Earlville IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Fr. Thomas Brantman and Fr. Donald DeSalvo officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011 with a prayer service being recited at 5:00 p.m. at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL . Memorials may be directed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
