Mary Jane Fraley (nee Myers), 95, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2021, at the Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, Illinois. She was born in Aurora, Illinois, on January 2, 1926, the daughter of Grant and Agatha (Adams) Myers. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Sharon Janabet, of Rochester Hills, Michigan. She is preceded by her husband of more than 53 years, Bruce, and her two brothers. Mary Jane was a former member of Wheatland-Salem United Methodist Church in Naperville, Illinois, and later, Salem Lutheran Church in Sandwich, Illinois.
Mary Jane was a graduate of Libertyville High School. She was the mother of four children: Doug (Donna) Fraley of Sandwich, Illinois, Sandy (Dave) Martens of Plano, Illinois, Jim (Margie) Fraley of Cooksville, Illinois, and Bob (Darla) Fraley of Somonauk, Illinois. She was a grandmother to 10 children, great-grandmother to 27 children, and great-great grandmother to 2 children. She was also a cherished Aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. When anyone came to visit her, the first thing she asked about was her “kiddos”.
Following High School, she worked at the Great Lakes Naval Station during WWII. She was a farm wife and homemaker for most of her life, cherishing her life-long friendships with many families in the Naperville, Plano, and Sandwich area. She and Bruce raised their four children on the Fraley farmstead in Naperville – a home to Fraley’s for six generations. Later in life she developed a hobby of counted cross-stitching, making many close friends on their weekly stitching nights. Mary Jane won many blue-ribbon awards at the Sandwich Fair and many family and friends have been blessed to have these treasured pieces of handywork.
A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church, 1022 N Main St, Sandwich, IL 60548. For more information, or to sign the online guest book, please go to
