Martha Lorene Davis

Martha L. Davis, 93, of Somonauk, IL passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 at Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sandwich. She was born August 27, 1915 in Centerville, MO, the daughter of George and Lillie Belle (Brooks) Camden. She married Delbert Davis on May 11, 1935 in Bunker, MO. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newark and the Jolly Sixties. She enjoyed sewing and needle crafts.

She is survived by five children, Gloria Cook of Somonauk, LeRoy (Barbara) Davis of Princeton, Larry (Tina) Davis of Leland, Garry (Millie) Davis of Sheridan, Janet (Bob) Stout of Bingham, IL; twenty-three grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Mary Lou Harms, two sons, Delmar “Jerry” and John; five sisters and five brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Pastor Tom Stack officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
