Marlene Janice (Mccollum) Cook

August 28, 1939 — July 25, 2023

Marlene Janice (McCollum) Cook, 83, of Yorkville, formerly of Sandwich, passed away July 25, 2023. She was born August 28, 1939 to Edward and Helen (Alshouse) McCollum. She was united in marriage on August 10, 1957 to Gerald Cook. They spent 64 years together until Gerald's passing on November 17, 2021.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and housewife. She was the sole owner of Colonial Kitchen & Bath Cabinetry, Inc, following her husband's passing. She was a member of the United Church of Sandwich and a member of the Uniter's Circle at her church. She loved to read. Her biggest passion in life was her family. She devoted her life to raising her children. She was very involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives.

She is survived by one son, Timothy (Cinthia) Cook of Earlville and one daughter Kristin (Robert) Calvert of Sandwich. Eight grandchildren, Beverly (Todd) Schrader of Lee, Matthew (Sarah) Cook of Earlville, Andrew (Patricia) Cook of Earlville, Allison (Ryan) Wayman of Marengo, Justin (Marissa) Stofferahn of White Bear Lake, MN, Ryan Stofferahn of East Troy, WI, Eric (Danielle) Bedford of Ladysmith, WI and Katelyn (Matt) Sosolik of Sheridan. 16 great grandchildren. Brother-in-law, sister in laws, and many nieces. And a very dear friend, Bonnie Bernhardt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Patti Stofferahn, her parents, her brothers, Lee, Don and Duane McCollum and her grandson, Daniel Bedford.

Services will be held at the United Church of Sandwich on Saturday, August 5, 2023 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., noon, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m., noon. Internment will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, IL.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Cedarhurst of Yorkville and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care of our mom, grandma and great grandma.
