Marion J. Wald, 90, of Earlville, IL passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. She was born December 6, 1928 in Sandwich, IL, the daughter of George and Laura (Wilkening) Grandgeorge. She married Lyle Wald on September 24, 1960 at the Union Presbyterian Church in Sandwich. Marion was a 58-year member of the Rollo Congregational United Church of Christ in rural Earlville, where she was a longstanding member of the women’s fellowship. She was a member of the Rollo/Shabbona Chapter DeKalb County Home Extension. Marion was a registered nurse at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona for 37 years, retiring in 2008 at the age of 79. Upon retirement, she was awarded the Hero in Long Term Care by the state of Illinois Healthcare Association and the Illinois Counsel of Long-Term Care. Marion was passionate about nature, flowers, gardening, and birds. Her boys were her world, and she enjoyed spending time and traveling with her sisters, whom she was extremely close. Family was everything to Marion, she loved traveling be it the West Coast and even over-seas once to visit those she loved.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Lyle; her four children: Bryan Wald of Earlville, IL, Bradley (Sherif Tawfik) Wald of Portland, OR, Ronald Wald of Earlville, IL, and Randall (Jackie Mascenic) Wald of Sycamore, IL; two sisters, Lucille Mickey of Garden Prairie, IL and Evelyn (Jack) Smith of Sandwich, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Rollo Congregational United Church of Christ, 2471 Weddell St. rural Earlville, IL with Rev. David Marquardt officiating. Burial will follow in Stevens Cemetery rural Earlville. Visitation will from 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the church until the time of service. Memorials may be directed the family to be divided amongst Marion’s favorite charities. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
