Marilyn E. Stubbe, 80, of Plano, IL passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at her daughter’s home, after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 25, 1932 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Ralph and Jenny (Horner) Currier. She married Robert Stubbe on November 26, 1949 in Kewanee, IL, spending 60 years together until his passing in 2009. Marilyn worked at Terry’s Sportswear in Plano, IL and The Sue Ann Shop in Yorkville, IL for many years. Marilyn and Bob spent many years in retirement in Punta Gorda, FL. She enjoyed cooking, gambling, shopping, camping, bingo and recently enjoyed traveling to CA and Las Vegas to see her daughter and son-in-law. Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her family.
She is survived by five children, Colleen (Mike) Dotson, Connie (Mickey) Downey, Julie Stubbe (Karen Vilmin), Jeff (Penny) Stubbe all of Plano, IL, and Lisa (Bill) Fessl of Temecula, CA; seven grandchildren, Justin (Kristy) Dotson, Michael and Derek Downey, Kendall (Robert) Schoonover, Robert and Kayla Stubbe and Christina (Paul) Bihun; two great grandchildren, Kaylyn and Olivia Dotson; one brother, Richard Currier (Joe Prado) of Hemet, CA, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends Howard and Lauretta Holstine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, one brother and two sisters.
According to Marilyn’s wishes there will be no visitation and a private ceremony for family only will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The American Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL.
