Marilyn K. Smith, 94, of Plano passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Season’s Hospice in Naperville. She was born April 16, 1923 in Morris, IL., the daughter of Nobel and Pearl Knowles Steele. She married Henry J. Smith on June 11, 1944 in Stark, FL. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Plano, Plano American Legion Auxiliary member for 55 years. She worked at Plano Molding 25 years retiring in 1988. Marilyn was an avid Nascar fan, enjoyed auctions and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Thomas Zahnzinger of Somonauk, IL. and Susan Gary Lyman of Newark, IL.; one son, Rodney Sue Smith of Sheridan, IL.; eight grandchildren, Shelly Martin, Jennifer Don Hastert, Stacey Swisher, Leslie Bob Dabbert, Amy Brian Swanson, Wendy Lyman, Joshua Jenny Smith and Nathan Kinsay Smith; sixteen great- grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one sister Shirley Gabrielson of Oswego, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, John H. Smith, two grandsons, Ryan Smith and Jeremy Smith.
Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 4:00 to the time of service on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
