Mabelle T. Brown

October 18, 1923 — February 16, 2014

Mabelle Brown passed peacefully at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday February 16, 2014 at Heritage Health in Mendota under the care of Illinois Valley Hospice following an extended illness. Cremation has been accorded.
She was born in Guthrie County, Iowa to George M. and Lily (Nelson) Terrace on October 18, 1923. She married Howard W. Brown on June 21, 1947 at the Earlville United Methodist Church. He passed on November 11, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother George (Red) and all of her brothers and sisters in law ; Maye Terrace, Art and Marie Brown and Wayne and Polly Hess.

Mabelle is survived by 2 sons: Bob (Debbie) Brown of Delavan, Illinois and Phil (Jane) Brown of Lenexa, Kansas; 4 grandchildren Stacy (Steve) Buss, Imperial MO, Shelly (Chris) Dobek, Cary NC, Aubrey (Mike) Ryan, Chicago and Taylor Brown, also of Chicago; 6 great grandchildren: Andrew, Josh, Natalie and Elena Buss, Emma and Reese Dobek as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mabelle graduated from Earlville High School in 1941 and attended Illinois State Normal University before doing her duty as one of the Rosie the riveters on tail sections at the Willow Run B 24 Bomber facility near Ann Arbor, Michigan until she was called home to care for her mother.
Howard and Mabelle farmed west of Harding until they retired and moved to Earlville in 1974. Mabelle also worked as a bookkeeper for Humm Chevrolet and Humm Tire for several more years. She moved to Heritage Health in January of 2012.

Mabelle enjoyed being an active member of the Earlville United Methodist Church where all services will be held. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. til 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 with a memorial service at that time conducted by Pastor Linda Thomas. Burial of her urn will follow at the Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville. Hanley-Turner-Eighner funeral home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
