Lucy Smith Ulmer, 85, of Sandwich passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. She was born May 8, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Richard J. and Florence M. (Buxton) Branigan. Lucy was a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Rich) McCaslin of Baker, IL and Deborah (Rick) Kontos of Leland, IL; one son, Duane (Nancy) Smith of Bridgeview, IL; ten grandchildren, Rebekah (John) Earle, Christina (Kim) Kirby, Jennifer (Jeremy) Zimmerman, Amanda (Nick) Carico, John Kontos, Kelly (Jim) Beaudreau, Michael Kontos, Melissa Kontos, Jessica (Jennifer) Smith and Duane (Kelsey) Smith, ; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Morris of Wheaton, IL; a special nephew, Tom (G.G.) Morris of Wheaton, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by three husbands Duane Smith, Leonard Sucech and Raymond Ulmer, one sister, Sarah Coley, four brothers, Bill, Dick, Chester, Frank Branigan, and Bobby Branigan in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral in Sandwich with Pastor Derek Johnsen officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the funeral home in Sandwich with an Eastern Star service at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Evergreen Park Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL.
