Lorraine D’Orio, 85, of Somonauk IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday the 2nd of October, 2014, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Lorraine worked passionately as a nurse for many years. She was loved by her family, friends and was constantly reminding them to “Be kind and love one another.” She enjoyed anything that was French, laughing, a good sappy movie, digital puzzles, reading, cooking, lilac and a good gin martini on the rocks and she was never afraid to bring out the wooded spoon if things turned sour.
Lorraine was a heartfelt and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and woman. Her spirit will be carried on by her 4 children: Renee (Mike) Konen, Michelle Capps, Jeff (Peggy) D’Orio, and Mary’Elise (Phil) Hosler; 9 grandchildren: Joseph Caps, Erin (Ryan) Ellis, Andrew (Lisa) Konen, Matthew Konen, James and Tyler D’Orio, Chelsea (Jonathan) Wilson, Ashley and Xander Hosler; 3 great grandchildren: Cassie Capps, Avery and Addison Ellis; 2 sister-in-laws: Dorthea LeCuyer and LaVerne Bucher, along with an amazing amount of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Lorraine is reunited with her parents Marie Rose and Desire LeCuyer, her Husband, Robert “Bob” D’Orio, and her 3 siblings, Mark (Betty), Thomas and Eugene (Marietta) LeCuyer.
A celebration of Lorraine’s life will take place at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home on Sunday the 5th of October, 2014 from 2-6 with a Rosary following. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, the 6th of October, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Fr. Kevin Butler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Kendall County Food Pantry, two of her favorite foundations. For more information or to sign the online guest book, go to
