Lora Mae (McDowell) Todd, 84, of Somonauk, IL passed away September 13, 2010 in Shabbona Healthcare Center, Shabbona, IL. Lora was born on August 15, 1926 in Bruceville, IN, the daughter of the late Thomas Wayne and Stella (Douglas) McDowell, of Cave-In-Rock, IL. After finishing high school, Lora moved to Evanston, IN to work in a defense factor (1944-45) to help in the war effort. After WWII, she resided in Streator, IL employed at Owens Glass Factory. On May 1, 1948 she married Cecil Wayne Todd, of Rollo, IL. The couple resided in the Shabbona and Paw Paw areas for several years until moving to Somonauk, IL in 1970. Some of the past times Lora enjoyed was square dancing, playing cards, and sewing. Upon retirement, Lora and Wayne spent much of their time traveling the United States and enjoying their home in Cadiz, KY, Land Between the Lakes.
Lora is survived by her husband, Wayne Todd of Somonauk; her children. Peggy (late Gerald) Childers of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia (late James) Lund, of Pontiac, IL, Deborah (Kurtiss) Larson of Earlville, IL and Wayne (Kimberly) Todd of Glendale, AZ; her younger brother, Franklin (Mary Ellen) McDowell of Leland, IL; sister-in-law, Shirley McDowell of Shabbona, IL; eleven grandchildren, Cathlene (James) Kelm of Earlville, Ronald (Laurrel) Childers of Steward, IL, Matthew (Krista) Childers of Rochelle, IL, Victoria Childers of Rockford, Daniel (Dora) Childers of Monroe Center, Christopher Lund of Pontiac, IL, Wendy Lund of Clinton, Angela (Wayne) Koontz of Earlville, IL, Amber Larson of Aurora, IL, Nicholas (Shannon) Larson of Wheaton, and Charles Todd of Glendale, AZ; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Paul McDowell; one sister Golda Brooks.
