Lois R. Sampson, 90, of Earlville, IL passed away, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Mendota Lutheran Home. She was born July 28, 1927 in Ottawa, IL the daughter of Daniel and Marie (Clark) Madden. She married Myron Sampson on August 18, 1948 in Earlville, IL. Lois attended Serena High School, St. Mary of the Woods College and received her advanced degrees from N.I.U. in DeKalb, IL. She taught school at Sheridan and the last 25 years at Ophir School in Triumph, IL. She was also a partner in Royal Carriage LTD in Chicago and Earlville.
Lois was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville, St. Mary of the Woods Alumni Association, IEA, NEA and LaSalle County retired Teacher’s Association, The Catholic Daughters of the American Auxiliary, The Earlville Country Club, The Earlville Bridge Club, and various other bridge clubs.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Sampson of Oswego, IL; two sons Dan (Amy) Sampson of Chicago, IL and Tom (Gloria) Sampson of Earlville, IL; two grandchildren, Pierce and Cole Sampson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Myron Sampson in 2011, and one sister Patricia Janz.
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville, IL with Father Augustin Kassa officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Earlville, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 in the church until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
