Lila Stahl Stroud Meyer

Lila Stahl Stroud Meyer, 96, of Somonauk, IL passed away peacefully, Friday, November 20, 2009 at her home. She was born October 8, 1913 in Somonauk, the daughter of Adolph and Blandine (Guth) Stahl. She married Milo Stroud and he passed away in 1945 and she later married Louis J. Meyer in 1961. Lila was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk. She was involved in sales and later employed by Farmers State Bank in Somonauk. Lila was an avid bridge player and enjoyed gardening especially growing roses. She had a passion for making competitive floral arrangements for the Sandwich Fair for many years.

She is survived by one son, John Stroud of Chicago; one daughter, Jane (John) Martin of Geneva; one daughter-in-law, Andrea Stroud of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Brooke (Stephane) Carnot and Lindsay (Shannon) Stroud both of Washington, D.C., Andrew Stroud of New York City, NY, Johanna (Jason) Patterson of Geneva, IL and Jake (Katy) Martin of Chicago, IL; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son, Frank Stroud; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church 235 South Green Street, Somonauk with Rev. Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow at Leland Cemetery in Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Somonauk, Fox Valley Older Adults of Sandwich, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
