Letitia "Tia" O'Neill

Letitia “Tia” O’Neill, 82, of Sandwich passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at Arden Courts of Geneva in Geneva, IL. She was born October 9, 1934 in Ottawa, IL, the daughter of Lysle and Lillian Anderson Abbott. She married James O’Neill on June 6, 1955 in Leland, IL. Tia was a member of Federated Church of Sandwich. She was employed at CTS Knights for over 40 years and retired in 1992. Tia loved to bowl and was a member of WIBC; she was also a member of the Aurora Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Joanne Tom Abens of Somonauk, IL; two sons, Brian Carol O’Neill of Sandwich, IL and Lynn O’Neill of Sheridan, IL; six grandchildren, Michael Abens, Rachael Jason Nelson, Ryan Abens, Emily Abens, Megan O’Neill, and Hannah O’Neill; three great grandchildren, Logan, Caitlyn, and Finn; one brother, Dave Abbott of Leland, IL; one sister, Sue Olle of Ottawa, IL; two sisters-in-law, Irma Grady of Sandwich, IL and Judy Abbott of Boulder Hill, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Guy and Phil Abbott.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Pastor Dan Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the funeral home in Sandwich. Memorials may be directed to Federated Church building fund or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
