Leslie G. Sunnen, 74, of Sandwich, IL passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born March 8, 1943 in Streator, IL, the son of George and Mildred Mead Sunnen. He married Nancy M. Yeates on November 19, 1966 in Goodrich, IL. Les was a US Air Force Veteran during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a current member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Somonauk, previously was a member of the Model Railroad Club in Kankakee, and on the Sugar Grove Police Community Board. Les retired in 2005 from AT&T after working for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Sandwich, IL; one daughter, Michelle Jim Henson of Somonauk, IL; two sons, Steven Sunnen of Sandwich, IL and Matthew Sunnen of Madison, WI; two grandchildren, Lisa Kuhn and Sean Stacy Henson; three sisters, LoAnne Schriefer, Ruth Savoie, and Elizabeth Steve Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Father Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk.
