Leslie R. "Les" Bacskai

Leslie R. "Les" Bacskai, 62, of Sandwich, IL passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at his home in Sandwich. He was born April 29, 1947 in Chicago, IL the son of Louis and Ethel (Biro) Bacskai. He married Laura J. Koruba on July 19, 2002 in Wheaton IL. He was a member of WVA Chapter 153 where Les was a past president. He was first and founding chairman of VAW Veterans Committee, worked and served on the Local 588 as a Union representative for over 15 years. A veteran of US Army having served during Vietnam Era. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; his children, Ronald (Sherry) Bacskai of New Leonx, IL, Autum (Ronnie) Murnieks of Lockport, IL, Angel (Jason) Schwab of Sandwich, IL, Joshua (Tiffany) Frausto, of Lockport, IL; Eight grandchildren, Brittany, Dakota, Kameron, Shya, Faith, Furyan, Dante and Warrik.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL with the Chaplain Matthias Merges officiating. Burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elmwood, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
