Leroy Albert Goetsch

LeRoy Albert Goetsch, 80, of Earlville, IL formerly of Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. He was born January 3, 1935 in Wausau, WI the son of William Albert and Irene (Hartwig) Goetsch. He married Leila Rose Jordan on June 4, 1955 in Marathon City, WI. LeRoy was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI. He worked as a union bricklayer/cutter for over 20 years in Madison, WI helping build the Oscar Meyer plant and numerous other buildings throughout the Midwest. His next 20 years he sold Electrolux vacuum cleaners (3300 in total) which held the record for many years and later he cleaned carpets with his sons Ricky and Scotty, up until the age of 78. LeRoy enjoyed traveling between Wisconsin and Illinois selling potatoes, tomatoes and his almost famous jellies and on occasion he’d take along a grandson or two while making his annual melon run. He was a fine craftsman in woodworking and he enjoyed hunting white tail deer with his boys. LeRoy will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Goetsch (Jeff) Vike of McFarland, WI and Vicki Goetsch of Pardeeville, WI; two sons, Ricky (Jeanne) Goetsch of Portage, WI and Scott (Barbara) Goetsch of Oxford, WI; and eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; one sister, Carol Clure of Schofield, WI and one brother Web Goetsch of WI, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leila and one brother Gordon Goetsch.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday February 27, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL, with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating.
