Leone R. Zahner, 93, of Elburn passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Presence McAuley Manor in Aurora. She was born March 18, 1920 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of Edward and Sophie (Zucker) Weismiller. She married Earl Zahner on May 8, 1943 in Somonauk. Leone was a member of St. Galls Catholic Church of Elburn, Illinois Nurses Association and a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for many years. She graduated from Sandwich High School and St. Joes School of Nursing. Her many years of nursing were working for private doctors and the last twenty-five years as Director of Nursing at Mercyville.
She is survived by one son, Edward (Carol) Zahner of St. Charles, IL and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, four sisters, Margaret (Harry) Freeland, Joan (Byron) Curnutte, Audrey (Louis) Meyer and Alma (Lawrence) Gavin and one brother, Edward (Nancy) Weismiller.
