Leona Grace Miller, 83, of Sandwich, passed peacefully at her home on Friday, September 6, 2013. She was born May 18, 1930 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Thomas and Rachael (Severson) Thompson. On February 20, 1954 she married her dance partner for life, Donald J. Miller in Barrington, IL. She was a member of the Aurora Moose. Leona enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Kim (Denise) Miller of Sugar Grove and Kevin (Cindy) Miller of Plano; two grandsons, Christopher S. of Oswego and Peter J. of Sandwich; one sister, Phyllis Sandburg of Elburn and numerous nieces and nephews and her darling grand puppy, Sunshine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Donald, four sisters, May, Ida, Lillian and Marian and two brothers, Russell and Phillip.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL. Burial will follow in Pratts Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial may be directed to Open Door Rehabilitation Center or the American Cancer Society.
