Leon L. Wilkinson, 90, of Plano passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born January 25, 1924 in Buffalo, MO the son of Lecius Ernest and Gale Dora (Sheridan) Wilkinson. He married Eva Leona Merchant on June 28, 1942 in Springfield, MO. Leon proudly serviced in the US Army during WWII in the 17th Airborne Division. He was an ironworker in local #393 before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Leona of Plano, IL; two daughters, Linda (James) Green of Plano, IL and Connie (Harry) Gorman of Sherrard, IL; seven grandchildren, James (Amy) Green of Plano, IL, Chris (Denise) Green of Lake Holiday, IL, Stacy (Mark) Flodstrom of Plano, IL, Michael (Anna) Gorman of Orion, IL, Jennifer Gorman of Evanston, IL, Sean (Kyla Waltermire) Gorman of Maryville, IL and Mary (Dan) Joyce of Livermore, CA; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dennis Wilkinson, one sister Jaunita Luttjohn and one brother Leland Wilkinson.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL Burial will be private at Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano.
