Laurine M. Streff, 94, of Plano, IL, formerly of Juniata, Nebraska passed away peacefully at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. She was born October 12, 1919 in Juniata, NE, the daughter of Aleck and Susan (Heuertz) Parr. She married Joseph F. Streff on September 10, 1941 in Juniata, NE, where they farmed together. She made Illinois her home from September 29, 1956 until she went to her final home on September 29, 2014. Laurine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano, where she was a member of CCW, Blue Army, Legion of Mary and Lay Carmelites. She took great joy in being a homemaker and loved all of her family and friends. Laurine enjoyed music, crafts, flowers, gardening, traveling and, most of all, playing cards.
She is survived by five children, Karen (Jack) Ryeczyk of Oswego, IL, Donna (Jack) Bishop of Frisco, CO, Joan (Alvin) Kocher of Bristol, IL, Marilyn (Kim) Davis of Harmony, MN and Joseph A. Streff of Plano, IL; eleven grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; one sister Rita Miller of Hastings, NE; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and almost one hundred nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jake, two grandchildren, Laura and Kevin Ryeczyk, six sisters and four brothers.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano with Father Andy Davy, M.I.C. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Building Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
