Lana R. Kupp, 62, of Sandwich passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at her home in Lake Holiday. She endured a 13 year battle with Alzheimers Disease and was able to pass away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 2, 1949 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of Harold and Myrtle (Wold) Hanson. She married Dennis J. Kupp on June 28, 1975 in Sandwich. Her childhood was spent in Sandwich, IL where her family owned the local grocery store/meat market. After she married Dennis, they made their home in Waterman, IL.
She spent most of her time being a wife and mother. This is what she did best. She always had a huge love for her family, spending time with them in any way possible. Lana and Dennis did live some of their later years in northern Wisconsin; however, they returned back to Illinois to be closer to family. She will be remembered for her vast love for life and for being a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her husband Dennis; her children, Shana (Jeff ) Vines of Sugar Grove, Slade (Kim) Martin of Waterman, Stayson (Shannon) Martin of Dubuque, Iowa; Jacob (Kathleen) Kupp of Plano and Ashley (Phil) Brown of Yorkville; many grandchildren, Logan, Riley, Tanner, Corbin, Lindsay, Haley, Allan, Madison, Elliot, Easton and another baby Kupp on the way; her brother, Greg(Connie) Hanson of Somonauk; step-mother Ada Hanson of Somonauk; her three childhood best friends, Jeannie Hohmann , Sharon Wielert and Patti Weber; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Winnie Kupp.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Sandwich with the Pastor Wayne Derber officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer Association.
